This fish lives in South and Central America from Uruguay north to Panama. It eats algae, aquatic plants, and crustaceans.
Fun facts: This catfish gets its name from rows of scutes that cover the upper parts of the head and body. They can grow to be up to 20 inches. They can also be purchased to clean the algae off of a fish tank.
